What is your money mindset?

Here’s the thing: the way you view your money plays a large role in your overall financial well-being. So, while you may not yet feel ready to face your finances, the sooner you let go of past money mistakes, the sooner you’ll be able to change your financial situation.

Your money mindset defines how you think about money and influences how you save, spend, invest, and manage your debt. It’s your core beliefs about money and your attitude towards it. and the reality is that women spend and save, but they do not invest.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What did the adults in your life teach you about money?
  • What messages about money were instilled in you from a young age?
  • Were you parents or guardians spenders, investors, or savers?
  • Are you ready to change your money mindset and turn it from saving and spending into investing?

If you are a saver, why should you rethink your money mindset and turn it towards investing?

  • Investing will guarantee you a passive secondary income over time. Also, investing allows you to grow faster than your economy. Your salary will usually only increase with the growth of the economy.
  • Read Poor dad – rich dad  by Robert Kyrosaki or Brief History of Equalityby economist Thomas Piketty to understand why equality will fail if you as a women do not invest
  • Not only does it matter who pays the check, it also matters whether you have shareholder voting rights and can influence company decision-making through shareholder engagement or by creating investor impact through channelling your investments to impactful companies.
